Dawn Adams Joins Chatfield College as Grant Officer

Dawn Adams, PhD will take on the role of Grant Officer at Chatfield College. In her new position, she will be responsible for researching new grant opportunities and raising support from foundations. Before joining Chatfield as the grant officer, Dr. Adams was working as a volunteer tutor and mentor at the college.

“I am excited to become the grant officer for Chatfield, and I’m really looking forward to helping spread the inspiring Chatfield mission surrounding communities,” said Dawn.

Dr. Adams earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Cincinnati, her master’s degree from Kennesaw State, a Specialist in Science Education from Georgia State University, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education Leadership from Capella University. Dawn brings 30 years of teaching experience in the Cobb County School District in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as 15 years as the internship coordinator of a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) school.

Dr. Adams has placed over 1,500 students in internships with major companies and corporation in the Atlanta area. She also worked closely with the grant writing team at Cobb County, as well as in the educational grant writing departments at Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, and Kennesaw State College. Another cause dear to her heart, Dawn worked with young women who have been or were at risk for domestic human trafficking.

Director of Development Jim Ludwig said of Dr. Adams, “We are excited to have Dawn join our team at Chatfield with her vast array of experiences in the grant arena from the Atlanta area.  She brings with her the opportunity for additional partnerships that will help us strive to advance Chatfield’s mission and meet our goals.”

Originally from Williamsburg, in Clermont County, Dawn currently resides in downtown Cincinnati. She enjoys running, yoga, Pilates, strength training, reading, and traveling. She recently returned home to the area to be closer to her family, after more than 30 years living in Atlanta.
