Just announced! Grammy winner Cynthia Erivo, who won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Celie in The Color Purple, will headline this year’s Classical Roots concert. Also joining the Orchestra will be the chamber ensemble Sons of Serendip who rocketed to stardom after appearing on America’s Got Talent. Sons of Serendip will also be out in the community for a variety of activities in the week leading up to the concert (details TBA).John Morris Russell conducts this annual celebration of African-American musical heritage, featuring the CSO, Classical Roots Community Choir and CYSO Nouveau Chamber Players. Due to Music Hall’s historic renovation, this year’s concert is at Crossroads Church in Oakley. Buy your tickets today, as this concert is sure to sell out!
