Chatfield Students work with Senior Obama Education Advisor
June 11th, 2010
Brad Jupp, a senior Education Department official in the Obama administration, recently spoke at an area education conference entitled, “Trends In Teacher Compensation: A Symposium for Educators,” which explored whether teachers should be paid based on student achievement. The conference was sponsored in part by Chatfield College, and Chatfield students and employees helped organize, promote and staff the event.
Held at the College of Mt. St. Joseph and sponsored by Leadership Cincinnati, a program of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Class XXXIII Education Project Committee, the conference featured nationally recognized experts on teacher compensation trends who spoke on both sides of the merit pay issue. Attendees included area and regional teachers, principles, union representatives, boards of education, superintendents and administrators. More than 100 educators came from throughout the region to hear about this important trend.
“I was impressed with and proud of the entire Chatfield team,” said Chatfield College President John Tafaro, a member of Leadership Cincinnati's Class XXXIII education committee. “The team played a critical role in the organization of the event, and they worked hard to help make it a success.”
