Chatfield College to hold open house at St. Martin Campus

May 6th, 2011

Chatfield College will host an open house on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its St. Martin Campus.

Beginning at 10 a.m., visitors will have the opportunity to tour the St. Martin campus located in Brown County, as well as meet with academic advisors.  A Financial Aid seminar will be held for those who are interested in college but need aide in finding financial assistance and guidance through the college process.

“With the local economy struggling to improve, the need for a college degree has become increasingly important,” said John Penrose, Director of Admissions and Recruiting.

Penrose says that in Ohio, the unemployment rate for people with just a high school diploma or GED is around 14 percent.  Those workers with a college degree enjoy an unemployment rate of about 4.7 percent.

“In other words, people with a college education are about three hundred times less likely to be unemployed,” he said.

“This open house is designed to help people who may be unsure about attending college to see how easy it can be to get started.”

The day will also include free food and refreshments along with the chance to talk to current students about their experience at Chatfield.

Chatfield College is a private, Catholic, liberal arts college offering the Associate of Arts degree in St. Martin and Cincinnati.  Chatfield is an open enrollment college and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.  Prospective students need only to have a High School Diploma or GED to attend and will be guided individually through the enrollment and Financial Aid application process.  The St. Martin campus is located at 20918 State Route 251; St. Martin, OH  45118.  The Cincinnati site is located at 1800 Logan Street; Cincinnati, OH  45202.  For more information, visit the website, at www.chatfield.edu, call 513-875-3344 or emailadmissions@chatfield.edu.
