Chatfield College to hold art show featuring work by John Ruthven

Chatfield College in St. Martin, OH has announced that an art show featuring works by renowned wildlife artist John A. Ruthven will be held in St. Angela Hall on the St. Martin campus beginning on Sept. 3 and will run until Oct. 5. 

The Chatfield show is part of the “Year of John Ruthven” and will feature several limited edition prints and originals available for purchase for the duration of the show.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the John & Judy Ruthven Scholarship fund at Chatfield College.

John A. Ruthven, naturalist, author, lecturer, and internationally acknowledged master of wildlife art is often called the “20th Century Audubon.”  His paintings have been included in acclaimed exhibitions such as The Artist of America Exhibition in Denver, Colorado and the Society of Animal Artist, a traveling museum exhibition included at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum in Oradell, New Jersey. Museums featuring his work include the Smithsonian Institution`s Preservation and Research Center; Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin; the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History, Jamestown, New York; and the Cincinnati Museum Center where a major retrospective exhibit of his work, “John A. Ruthven - In the Audubon Tradition,” was mounted.  Ruthven lives and works in Georgetown, Ohio.
