Chatfield College to Host Faculty Recruitment Fairs
September 15th, 2010
Chatfield College is experiencing record enrollment numbers, and the college is actively recruiting new faculty to meet that growth. Instructors are needed in all liberal arts subjects, including business, computers, math, English, history, human services, and all of the sciences.
Chatfield College encourages anyone interested in learning more about the college and its mission to attend one of the following faculty recruitment fairs:
Wednesday, Sept. 29
St. Martin Campus
6:30 â€" 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 7
Findlay Market Degree Site
6:30 â€" 8:30 p.m.
The fairs will feature Chatfield's President, John Tafaro, who began his career in higher education as an adjunct instructor for several area colleges. He will be speaking to prospective new adjunct faculty and, along with other Chatfield staff, will be available for questions and conversation. Refreshments will be served.
“Chatfield has recently experienced its highest enrollment in our history, and our projected growth indicates that we need to add faculty to meet those enrollment expectations,” explained Dean Roger Courts.
Courts said that teaching at Chatfield offers a very effective and rewarding classroom environment â€" one that includes a rich blend of students of all ages with different cultural and educational backgrounds. The college offers classes in the morning, afternoon, evening, and on Saturdays so that students can schedule their classes around job or family responsibilities.
Courts also said that Chatfield is known for its small class sizes, which allow for more interactive time between instructor and student, and adds that the increase in enrollment will not change the college's commitment to personal attention.
“Our student/teacher ratio is approximately eight to one,” he said, “and we intend to keep it that way.”
Anyone interested in attending one of the recruitment fairs can visit the Chatfield College website at http://www.chatfield.eduto get directions and review Chatfield programs and course offerings. The recruitment fairs will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about teaching at the higher education level. Participants are encouraged to bring a resume and any questions. Anyone unable to attend may forward materials by e-mail to email@example.com, with a subject line: “Faculty Candidate.”
